Basic Function: This position is accountable for providing the technical skills required to implement voice and data network solutions that align with the business strategies within Basic American Foods. This includes developing cost-effective solutions to support the business and employing standards and guidelines to ensure maintainability. Included are voice and data convergence and IP Telephony. A primary emphasis is on responsive, cost effective user service, and proficient communication to determine and satisfy business requirements.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities (in order of importance):
- Management (30%) Manages Network projects and resources that meet the priorities of the business with focus on voice. Develops and manages project plans and integrates the needs of the business. Participates and supports in the implementation of network systems that are deemed a priority. Coordinates planning, design and installation of technology infrastructure and services. Works with the Information Technology team during the design phase of projects to establish functional requirements and maximize cost effectiveness. Provides full documentation on all new network systems and Information Technology processes. Successfully implements projects on time, within budget and without impacting the day-to-day functions of the business. Reports status of all projects on an on-going basis. Implements voice and data networks, including management of vendors. Manages the migration of traditional PBX’s to an IP Telephony infrastructure including unified messaging throughout the enterprise.
- Network Administration (50%) Accountable for ensuring all projects requiring network resources use solutions that are cost effective, efficient, and aligned with enterprise-wide architecture and standards. Responsible for ensuring the BAF network is secure and available 24X7. Responsible for recommendations for telecommunication contracts including but not limited to hardware and software including but not limited to voice, data, telephone switches, and voicemail. Provides on-going network metrics to ensure on-going network growth is acceptable and bandwidth is available for expansion. Provides architectures and technologies to both Information Technology and the business units. Including facilitating a standards-based approach for delivering technology-based solutions. Assists in preparing and managing the annual Information Technology expense and capital budget.
- Support (20%) Supports and coordinate network resources for the processes and services in the areas of project leadership, management, troubleshooting, consulting, enhancements, systems analysis, and new applications as designated. Ensures business recovery plans for our network are current and require a minimal amount of downtime for the users. Responsible for providing recommendations for training to the support team. Provides timely constructive feedback as needed, as well as providing feedback on team and individual performance. Provides ongoing selection, and ongoing development and training of the team. Works with the Infrastructure team to manage the ongoing security and business recovery requirements including periodic review and testing.

- Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited college in a related discipline with 8 years or more of professional experience. Broad experience within Information Technology. Ability to work under pressure and prioritize according to organizational objectives. Proven ability to deliver effectively in a dynamic environment. Must possess strong scheduling skills.
- Language Skills:
- Project Management Skills: Proven ability to manage projects. Use and support Basic American Foods’ Project Management methodology Direct off the shelf package solution implementation within budget and on time. Ability to coordinate project implementation with related projects. Provide leadership on projects to ensure resources complete tasks on time and within budget. Additional skills: Exhibit excellent analytical ability, including strong research, analysis and conceptual skills. Use innovative problem-solving approaches to proactively tackle a broad range of problems and develop appropriate recommendations. Work effectively in a team environment. Build strong and effective working relationships with all members of the Information Technology organization and business community using basic principles. Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication, listening, and negotiation skills.
- Computer Skills:
- Ability to deploy and support commercially available off-the-shelf solutions or packaged applications Design, implement , and maintain IP telephony services for the enterprise The individual must also demonstrate an understanding of the following skills: In-depth understanding of WAN’s, LAN’s, Wireless networks, IP Telephony and unified messaging. Including ATM, FRAME, and point to point connectivity Project Management Networking hardware including routers, switches, firewalls and VPN. Vendor Management Working knowledge of the MS Office suite including but not limited to the following tools: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Physical Demands:
- The work environment is a traditional office. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Individual must be capable of carrying up to 30 pounds while traveling.
- Work Environment:
- Occasional travel may be required (20 - 30%) with little notice, for periods up to one week, multiple times per year. The individual must be willing to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as required to meet due dates for deliverables and to support the business.
